What you can work on in Service and Maintenance
Assignments come from the manufacturing and food industry or the high-tech sector, for example. In the food industry, processes not only need to run, they also need to be safe and hygienic. In high-tech you work on systems where precision and reliability come first. In practice, this means your work includes:
- Installing and maintaining production machines and automation systems;
- Analyzing and solving malfunctions so the line runs again;
- Performing preventive maintenance: inspecting, lubricating, replacing wear parts;
- Keeping maintenance reports up to date and complying with safety regulations.
One day you're assembling a new production line, the next you're at a client's site resolving an urgent malfunction. Curious about more tasks or directions within Service & Maintenance?

Some Service and Maintenance jobs explained
Prefer building and installing? As a machine building technician you assemble, install and test production machines. You work on advanced systems in different phases: from mechanical assembly to adjustment and commissioning.
As a maintenance technician, on the other hand, you prevent malfunctions and solve them when they do occur. You perform inspections, replace parts and ensure production can continue. Prefer working in the field? As a service maintenance technician, you hit the road and perform maintenance and repairs at various client locations.
You can work as an all-rounder, based on both mechanical and electrical knowledge. Or you specialize in hydraulics, pneumatics or electrical engineering. You determine the direction based on the employeneur mindset.
A machine building technician assembles and installs new machines. A maintenance technician keeps existing installations running and replaces parts preventively, for example.
