The sustainability policy combines a practical approach fitting for a family-owned business with the high standards of international clients and legislation. Step by step, sustainability is being further integrated into daily operations.

To strengthen the team, our client is looking for a Sustainability Engineer. In this role, you will make a significant contribution to further developing, implementing, and securing the sustainability objectives. You will work closely with colleagues across various departments, other locations within the organization, and the group's central sustainability team. You will be a key link between policy and practice. This includes analyzing data, initiating improvement projects, and ensuring sustainability goals are translated into tangible results.

Your tasks include, among others:

  • Helping to shape the sustainability program of the location based on existing programs, customer requirements, and laws and regulations.
  • Developing and implementing initiatives in the areas of:
    • Environment: energy consumption, CO₂ reduction, and waste minimization.
    • Social: safety, working conditions, and employee development.
    • Governance: business ethics, business continuity, and supply chain responsibility.
  • Setting up, managing, and improving data collection and reporting related to sustainability.
  • Identifying technical improvement projects for CO₂ reduction and waste minimization and overseeing their implementation.
  • Supporting sustainability reporting, including management reviews and CSRD and CDP reports for the group.
  • Providing compliance reports to customers on areas such as RBA, REACH, RoHS, and Conflict Minerals.
  • Collaborating with the procurement organization to involve suppliers and the supply chain in sustainability ambitions.
  • Exchanging knowledge and best practices with other companies within the organization and contributing to the further development of the sustainability strategy.
  • Maintaining contacts with the group's Energy & Climate Advisor and other internal and external stakeholders.

What we expect from you

You are an analytical and proactive professional who knows how to connect sustainability with daily practice. You can easily switch between different disciplines and are skilled at guiding people through change and improvement. Additionally, you bring the following:

  • A completed higher vocational (HBO) or academic (WO) education, preferably in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Technical Business Administration, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.
  • An affinity for sustainability challenges in a technical or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of ESG topics and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CSRD, CDP, REACH, RoHS, RBA, or similar sustainability standards is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect stakeholders.
  • An independent, pragmatic, and results-oriented working attitude.
