From your ecological expertise, you ensure that projects are optimally prepared to make the energy transition a reality. This position is for a minimum of 32 hours per week, based at our office in Arnhem and working remotely from home. You are contributing to making the grid more sustainable.
We believe in smart choices based on data. As a Senior Ecology Specialist, you work on risk-driven decision-making within the field of ecology. You prevent unnecessary costs and delays by conducting research only when it's truly necessary. With sharp analyses, you lay the foundation for efficient project preparation and successful execution. The energy grid of the future is built for everyone, with everyone. And as a Senior Ecology Specialist, you play a part in this.
Your work involves:
- optimizing processes and products with innovative tools and data-driven solutions.
- representing the field of ecology, clearly explaining its methodology and added value to regulatory authorities and clients.
- providing subject-matter expertise in projects directly linked to the energy transition.
- ecology is divided into nitrogen/Natura 2000, area protection (including NNN areas), species protection, and trees.
You will contribute to developing a reliable and future-proof energy grid. Together with a large team of professionals, the energy grid is developed and managed for millions of residents and entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. Everything is done with care for the people relying on it: the customers. With your help, the energy transition is made possible, for and with the customers.
You will ensure safe ground excavation. Alongside a team of experts, you provide research and advice using a proprietary data system to identify environmental risks. At the same time, you determine the measures that need to be taken to ensure safety now and in the future.

What we expect from you
Working on building a future-proof organization. You do this by leveraging your own strengths and talents. Do you contribute to this with your focus on sustainability? And do you further complement this with:
- A completed bachelor's degree in Forest and Nature Management or a comparable field.
- At least 5 years of experience as an ecologist/advisor.
- Excellent knowledge of area and species protection and experience with its application in projects.
- A practical approach and the ability to balance nature interests with project execution.
- Experience with nature legislation/policy and nitrogen regulations is a plus.
- Client-oriented mindset: you understand that everything you do ultimately impacts clients, and you act accordingly.
