Privacy Officer

About this vacancy

As Privacy Officer, you are the central point of contact for everything around privacy and data protection within TMC. You keep our privacy programme running day to day across an international organisation of 30+ offices in 17 countries, translating legal requirements into practical steps for the business and making sure requests, questions and changes are picked up quickly and carefully. You work closely with our Data Protection Officer, our Group Controller and our Sustainability & Compliance Officer, as well as with colleagues from HR, Finance, business teams and our network of Country Privacy Leads. You make sure agreements are clear, questions are answered fast, and privacy processes run smoothly.

What will you do?

•  You carry out and support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) across projects and new initiatives, and keep our Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) accurate as the organisation evolves;
• You maintain day-to-day contact with internal stakeholders and suppliers, review Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and support supplier onboarding from a privacy angle;
• You handle data subject requests and act as the go-to point of contact for privacy questions from colleagues in the Netherlands and abroad;
•  You support the onboarding of acquisitions into our privacy programme and coordinate with our Country Privacy Leads, keeping policies, procedures and training up to date;
• You spot bottlenecks, bring structure and propose ways to make privacy processes clearer, more efficient and more future-proof.

What we expect from you

• You have around 3 years of experience as a privacy officer or in a comparable data protection / compliance role;
• You work accurately and in a structured way, and are used to managing multiple files, deadlines and stakeholders at once;
• You communicate professionally and clearly in English with employees, suppliers and internal stakeholders, and work in a service-oriented way;
• You have a relevant degree; a CIPP/E and/or CIPM certification is appreciated, and genuine interest in privacy laws beyond the GDPR (PIPEDA, UAE PDPL, Mexico's ARCO) is valuable given our international footprint;
• You take ownership of your work, act proactively and set priorities effectively in a dynamic, changing environment, with an eye for improvement.
