Mechatronics Engineer

About this vacancy

As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will take technical ownership of one or more highly complex subsystems, guiding their development from concept and design through industrialization and volume production.

You will work closely with System Architects, System Engineers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure technical excellence while balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

What will you do?

• Translate high-level system requirements into subsystem concepts, functional architectures, and engineering specifications;
• take technical ownership of the development and realization of critical high-precision modules and subsystems;
• drive design decisions related to motion systems, sensing technologies, actuators, control strategies, and system integration;
• lead technical trade-offs between performance, reliability, manufacturability, scalability, and cost;
• collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across mechanics, electronics, software, controls, and system engineering;
• define and maintain the technology roadmap for your subsystem, ensuring alignment with future product and customer requirements;
• guide and coach engineers within project teams through design reviews, simulations, testing activities, and technical problem-solving;
• support validation, integration, industrialization, and successful release of new designs into production;
• ensure that technical risks are identified early and effectively mitigated throughout the development process.

What we expect from you

• MSc or PhD degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related technical discipline;
• minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, with a proven track record in the architecture and development of complex mechatronic systems or high-precision modules;
• strong expertise in areas such as motion control, dynamics and vibration analysis, sensing and actuation technologies, system modelling, and precision engineering;
• hands-on experience leading multidisciplinary development projects throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept design to industrialization and release;
• excellent communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and drive critical engineering decisions;
• proficiency in modelling, simulation, and data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, FEM software, and Python;
• fluent in English, both written and spoken;
• currently living in the Netherlands.
