Design Manager High Voltage

About this vacancy

As a High Voltage Design Manager, you lead complex, multidisciplinary design projects for the construction and expansion of high voltage substations. You focus on technical quality, smart processes, and a safe, feasible design.

With your coaching leadership style, you empower a large engineering team and directly contribute to the necessary expansion of our electricity grid. You work from Rosmalen, a TMC office, or a project location near you, and you also have the option to work partly from home.

Your challenge

You will work within a long-term collaboration with a major national grid operator. Projects range from new constructions to the simultaneous expansion of multiple substations. You ensure structure, quality, and progress within the design process.

You set up efficient design processes, assemble a strong design team, and coach and lead this team. Where the client provides a basic design and a set of requirements, you ensure the optimal translation into a safe, feasible, and future-proof design.

What you will do

• Validate the program of requirements together with the client.
• Lead and inspire a design team of specialists (growing to ±40 engineers) with a coaching approach.
• Define the design strategy and oversee the design process according to the GOTIK methodology.
• Ensure that designs are feasible, executable, and safe.
• Facilitate smooth cooperation between disciplines, partners, and the client.
• Identify and minimize safety risks through smart design choices.
• Organize interface management between disciplines, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Identify opportunities for improvement, such as automating repetitive tasks.

Within the design team, you manage various design leaders and create an environment where people enhance each other, work together across disciplines, and foster innovation.

What we expect from you

You are a coaching leader and connector, who maintains oversight and gets the best out of their team. You navigate smoothly between various stakeholders, safeguard interests, and keep the focus on quality and feasibility.

In addition, you bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• At least 10 years of experience as a design manager within complex infrastructure or energy projects.
• An excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
