Do you want to work on groundbreaking research that directly contributes to the development of innovative vaccines and therapies for animals worldwide? Are you passionate about cell biology, virology, and new technologies like CRISPR-Cas? Then MSD Animal Health in Boxmeer offers you a unique opportunity to become part of one of the world’s largest Animal Health R&D centers.

Within our Discovery & Technology Research (D&T-R) department, you will collaborate with experts from various disciplines on the development of vaccines and biological solutions for poultry, cattle, swine, fish, cats, and dogs. Here, science, technology, and innovation come together to improve animal health on a global scale.

Your Challenge

As an Associate Scientist, you will be part of the D&T-Cells team, working on innovative research projects focused on cell technologies and cell line development. You will contribute to the development of new cell platforms and investigate how genetic modifications, including CRISPR-Cas technology, can enhance vaccine and antigen production.

You will have ample opportunity to conduct experiments, analyze results, and contribute ideas for innovative solutions. You will work closely with specialists in virology, immunology, bacteriology, vaccine formulation, and assay development.

What Will You Do?
  • Plan, execute, and report laboratory experiments within research and technology development projects.
  • Work on cell biology, cell culture, and innovative cell technology challenges.
  • Establish, maintain, and expand mammalian and avian cell cultures following aseptic techniques.
  • Perform virological assays, flow cytometry, transfections, and qPCR analyses.
  • Contribute to projects involving CRISPR-Cas genome editing and new cell culture platforms.
  • Work in compliance with GLP, EHS, and quality guidelines.
  • Collaborate intensively within multidisciplinary project teams.

What we expect from you

What do you bring?

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cell Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, or a related Life Sciences field.
  • Practical experience with cell culture techniques and cell biology experiments.
  • Experience with qPCR, CRISPR-Cas, virological techniques, or infection assays is a strong plus.
  • Interest in vaccine development and animal health.
  • An accurate, proactive, and eager-to-learn work attitude.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good command of Dutch and/or English.
