What does an environmental manager in civil engineering do?
The environmental manager we are looking for important clients is involved in civil projects in the broadest sense. You will work on planning, managing, and realizing roads, bridges, locks, cables, pipelines, and/or green spaces. These are complex projects and at the same time exciting, innovative challenges.
In addition, you are a connector, who supports colleagues and teams. To play a meaningful role, an environmental manager must also be highly communicative. He or she is open to intensive collaboration. And that is the path to further growth and to embracing employeneurship!
The tasks of an environmental manager explained
What will you do if you choose TMC? Your role as an environmental manager goes beyond a single job description. Below we briefly explain some tasks by way of illustration:
- Drafting environmental plans: you ensure a complete and professional plan and coordinate the interests of different parties in advance.
- Point of contact for stakeholders: throughout the entire process you speak with stakeholders and maintain relationships with companies, governments, residents, and other involved parties.
- Identifying environmental risks: which factors directly or indirectly affect your project? Based on this, you ensure the right permits and procedures.
- Leading projects: from start to finish you monitor schedules and budgets. You make sure that both internal colleagues and external parties (for example engineering firms and contractors) are working purposefully on the assignment.
In short: you combine technical, organizational, communicative, and financial skills to make every civil project a success. In return, you get the freedoms of an entrepreneur and the security of an employee. More on this later.
What do you bring in terms of environmental management?
From our unique position, TMC looks for people who bring support and decisiveness. Progress in the technical field. Concretely, this means you:
- Have completed a typical environmental management education (think civil engineering or comparable higher professional or university degrees)
- Bring experience in stakeholder management
- Have knowledge of permits and know how to deal with current regulations to apply for them
- Have knowledge of modern BIM software (think Autodesk Revit or comparable tools)
- Can independently analyze data and apply digital twins
- Dare to take responsibility for quality, safety, and sustainability.

A good, representative salary matches the responsibilities of an environmental manager. Your experience influences the salary. We apply a range between 3000 and 5000 euros gross per month. Naturally, the sector in which you operate also partly determines the salary.
