About this vacancy
As a Planning Economist, you work on challenging projects at the intersection of spatial planning, finance, and development. Your activities include: - Preparing and calculating **land and property development budgets** - Conducting **scenario and risk analyses** - Providing financial advice within complex area developments - Addressing issues related to **land policy, contract formation, and collaboration between parties** - Collaborating with project managers, urban planners, and civil engineering colleagues You always assess financial feasibility within the broader context of a project, from initiation to realization. **Working in a multidisciplinary team** You collaborate with experts from various disciplines such as urban planning, civil engineering, geodata, and project management. You frequently liaise with clients such as: - Municipalities and other governmental bodies - Housing corporations - Developers and private sector companies - Construction and infrastructure partners Beyond your own responsibilities, you guide colleagues in planning economics and actively share knowledge within the team. **What does your workday look like?** You combine office work with visits to project sites at client locations. One day, you might start with a meeting about ongoing land development budgets and work on different financial scenarios. The next day, you might evaluate a developer's plans against financial frameworks and advise on choices in programming or project phasing. Your day is full of variety: analyzing, advising, collaborating, and making an impact on the living environment of tomorrow.
What we expect from you
You are analytically strong, have excellent communication skills (Dutch language), and are driven to make projects successful. Additionally, you have: - At least **3 years of experience** as a Planning Economist, Area Economist, or in a similar role within area development - A completed bachelor's or master's degree in fields such as **Urban Planning, Economics, Civil Engineering, Architecture**, or equivalent - Experience with financial models and calculation systems (Excel and municipal software) - The ability to communicate effectively across different levels
