Platform Systems Engineer

About this vacancy
The role will contribute to the development of innovative space missions, ensuring the technical system coherence throughout the entire satellite lifecycle, from the proposal phase to in-orbit operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsibility for design activities at the system and subsystem levels during mission phases (Phase 0/A – E)
- Coordination with Mission Architect, Technical Lead, and other technical roles
- Definition and management of requirements and technical specifications throughout the project lifecycle
- Support in defining the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and mission profiles
- Development, review, and support for analyses and system budgets
- Execution of functional analyses and FMEA, contributing to the definition of FDIR logic
- Preparation of technical documentation (reports, technical notes)
- Support for AIT, AIV, and qualification activities at the system and subsystem levels
- Support in defining and conducting Flight Operations
- Interface with the Quality department and participation in NRB/NCR processes and configuration control
- Preparation of technical proposals for new projects
What we expect from you
General Requirements
- Master's degree in Aerospace/Space Engineering or a related technical field
- At least 2 years of experience in similar roles (preferably in the space domain)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary and international teams
- Highly flexible, with a practical and proactive approach
- Native Italian speaker, fluent in written and spoken English
- Knowledge of system budgets (mass, power, energy, volume)
- Experience in the definition and validation of mission, system, and subsystem requirements
- Strong knowledge of satellite architecture and design
- Familiarity with subsystem interfaces (data, power, electrical)
- Knowledge of mission phases according to ECSS standards
- General knowledge of AIV campaigns for spacecraft
- Familiarity with systems engineering tools and processes
- Knowledge of applicable aerospace standards (ECSS, MIL, NASA STD)
- Understanding of space component technologies and the Small Satellite market
- Experience in AOCS domain
- Knowledge of FDIR design and implementation
- Experience with MBSE approach
- Experience using Jira and Confluence in Agile contexts
- Experience with CubeSat and SmallSat platforms
- Experience in satellite operations in orbit
- Participation in project reviews under supervision of agencies (ESA, NASA, ASI)
