Do you have a background in environmental science or sustainability and are you ready for a challenging and diverse role in civil engineering? If so, read on! TMC is looking for a driven Environmental Science and Sustainability Consultant who wants to apply their expertise at leading consulting and engineering firms or within government entities. As an Environmental Science and Sustainability Consultant at TMC, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work on diverse projects for renowned clients in the North Brabant and South Netherlands regions. You’ll find yourself in an environment where innovation, sustainability, and personal development go hand in hand. In this role, you will make a significant contribution to sustainable projects within civil engineering. These projects can range from environmental impact assessments, climate adaptation initiatives, sustainable urban development, energy projects, to the sustainability of infrastructure. You will closely collaborate with clients such as consulting and engineering firms, municipalities, and provinces to embed sustainability into their projects. Your responsibilities include: - Advising governments and companies on complying with environmental laws and regulations; - Drafting and assessing environmental impact reports (EIAs) and other environmental studies; - Developing sustainable solutions and technologies within civil engineering projects; - Guiding sustainability audits and monitoring environmental performance; - Coordinating permitting processes and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

What we expect from you

  • Proficiency in Dutch at C1/C2 level, both spoken and written.
  • A completed HBO or WO Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, civil engineering, or a comparable field of study;
  • 0-3 years of work experience in a relevant role within the environmental or sustainability sector;
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainable technologies, and experience advising on projects with a civil engineering or sustainability focus;
  • Excellent communication skills: you can clearly and convincingly present complex environmental and sustainability issues to diverse stakeholders, ranging from government bodies to contractors;
  • An analytical and solution-oriented mindset: you can quickly switch between different issues and provide practical solutions;
  • Experience with guiding and supporting permitting processes, environmental impact assessments, or sustainable energy projects is a plus;
  • A proactive and independent work attitude, while also enjoying teamwork;
  • A Category B driver's license and willingness to travel within the South Netherlands region.
