About this vacancy
As a Design Engineer in the Underground Structures team, you primarily work on civil projects, transport infrastructure, and utility projects. Your focus is on project execution, technical design, client relationships, coaching colleagues, and exploring new opportunities. You work on underground structures across various areas and contribute to innovative and safe design solutions.
What you will do in this role:
- Prepare and review technical design deliverables such as calculations, reports, presentations, and drawings for underground structures (such as tunnels and shafts).
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and modelers—from concept design to detailed engineering and execution preparation.
- Perform technical analyses and designs using simple and numerical models based on first principles or applicable standards.
- Participate in technical research and development projects for innovative solutions.
- Support project managers by effectively managing your own contributions to projects (time, budget, and quality).
- Travel occasionally to project locations, both within and outside the Netherlands, depending on project needs.
- Assist with business development, including preparing technical proposals.
- Guide and coach junior team members.
What we expect from you
- A completed education in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering – Energy Systems, or Structural Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's level);
- You have excellent proficiency in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
- Proven work experience in a similar role;
- Knowledge of structural principles and building materials;
- Understanding of technical drawings and design standards;
- Familiarity with common design and construction codes;
- You show initiative, have strong analytical skills, and enjoy solving problems.
