About this vacancy

As a Design Engineer in the Underground Structures team, you primarily work on civil works, transport infrastructure, and utility projects. Your focus is on project execution, technical design, client relationships, coaching colleagues, and exploring new opportunities. You work on underground structures across various sectors and contribute to innovative and safe design solutions. **What you will do in this role:** - Prepare and review technical design deliverables such as calculations, reports, presentations, and drawings for underground structures (such as tunnels and shafts). - Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and modelers – from concept design to detailed engineering and preparation for implementation. - Conduct technical analyses and designs using simple and numerical models based on first principles or applicable standards. - Participate in technical research and development projects for innovative solutions. - Support project managers by effectively managing your contribution to projects (time, budget, and quality). - Occasionally travel to project sites, both within and outside the Netherlands, depending on project needs. - Contribute to business development, including drafting technical proposals. - Mentor and coach junior team members.

What we expect from you

A completed education in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering – Energy Systems, or Structural Engineering (HBO or WO level);
You have an excellent command of both Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing;
Proven work experience in a similar role;
Knowledge of structural principles and building materials;
Understanding of technical drawings and design standards;
Familiarity with common design and building codes;
You show initiative, are skilled at analysis, and enjoy solving problems.
