About this vacancy
As a Biomedical R&D Engineer, you will contribute to innovative technologies that improve the future of healthcare. You will work on cutting-edge sensor systems and algorithms that enable more accurate and reliable assessment of patient health, supporting the shift toward remote and wearable healthcare solutions. In this role, you will be part of the Health Research team and contribute to the verification and validation of novel sensor systems and data-driven algorithms. These systems collect multiple physiological signals and translate them into health parameters that support clinical decision-making. Your key responsibilities include: - Designing, setting up, and performing small-scale data collection studies to validate new sensor systems and algorithms, using reference equipment as a benchmark - Analyzing physiological data to verify system performance and validate sensors and algorithms against clinical or reference standards - Supporting larger studies on healthy volunteers, including preparation, execution, and data handling - Contributing to debugging, optimization, and improvement of sensor system hardware and software - Extending and developing algorithms that extract health parameters from multi-sensor data - Collaborating closely with researchers and engineers across hardware, software, and data science disciplines By joining the Health Research team in Eindhoven, you become part of a group of disruptive innovators and forward-thinking engineers. What we expect from you
You are a driven and curious engineer with a passion for applying technology to real-world healthcare challenges. You enjoy working hands-on across the full R&D cycle, from data collection to algorithm development, and thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
You bring:
- A Master’s degree (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field
- Strong theoretical and applied knowledge of human physiology
- Experience with design of experiments (DoE) and analysis of large data sets
- Hands-on experience with data collection on human subjects
- Strong Python skills (required); working knowledge of MATLAB and/or C is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines (plus)
- Basic knowledge of, and affinity with, technical documentation and regulations for medical devices (e.g., MDR, FDA, ISO standards) (plus)
- Basic knowledge of GDPR and an affinity with data privacy and ethical data handling (plus)
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
