Trainee Environmental Management

About this vacancy

As a Trainee in Environmental Management, you will become part of the environmental team of a major infrastructure project. You will assist in organizing and coordinating all environmental aspects within the project, focusing on conditioning, permits, and participation.

You will develop towards the role of an all-round environmental consultant, who navigates between content, environment, and organization. Together with experienced colleagues and the environmental manager, you will contribute to a safe, efficient, and socially responsible project.

What you will do

• Support in conditioning, permits, and participation, including documents, processes, and products.
• Identify environmental requirements such as cables, pipelines, and traffic measures.
• Draft resident letters and communication plans.
• Organize and support participation meetings (e.g., resident evenings).
• Conduct stakeholder analyses and maintain contact with the environment.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, market parties, and administrative partners.
• Report on progress, identify issues, and assess risks.

Guidance & development

• You will be paired with an experienced environmental manager who will provide substantive guidance and review moments.
• Participation in a practically oriented training program aimed at broad employability within environmental management.
• Coaching on topics such as administrative sensitivity, participation, and conditioning.

What we expect from you

• Completed higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) degree in fields such as public administration, urban planning, communication, or civil engineering.
• Motivation to develop professionally within a political and societal framework.
• Affinity with stakeholder management, permits, traffic measures, or conditioning themes.
• Communicative, sensitive, connecting, and proactive.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to persuade others.
• Willingness to work on-site and flexibility regarding travel time.
• Safety as a top priority (in possession of or willing to obtain VCA VOL certification).
