About this vacancy

As a Design Engineer in the Underground Structures team, you primarily work on civil works, transportation infrastructure, and utility projects. Your focus is on project execution, technical design, client relationships, coaching colleagues, and exploring new opportunities. You contribute to underground structures across diverse sectors and develop innovative and safe design solutions. **What you will do in this role:** - Prepare and verify technical design deliverables such as calculations, reports, presentations, and drawings for underground structures (such as tunnels and shafts). - Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and modelers—from conceptual design to detailed engineering and execution preparation. - Perform technical analyses and designs using basic and numerical models, based on first principles or applicable standards. - Participate in technical research and development processes for innovative solutions. - Support project managers by effectively managing your own contributions to projects (time, budget, and quality). - Occasionally travel to project locations, both within and outside the Netherlands, depending on project requirements. - Contribute to business development, including preparing technical proposals. - Mentor and coach junior team members.

What we expect from you

A completed education in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering – Energy Systems or Structural Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's level);
You have excellent command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
Proven work experience in a similar role;
Knowledge of structural principles and building materials;
Understanding of technical drawings and design standards;
Familiarity with common design and construction codes;
You show initiative, have strong analytical skills, and enjoy solving problems.
