About this vacancy

Are you an experienced analytical scientist with a passion for biologics, chromatography, and method development? For our Analytical Development team in Leiden, we are looking for an Analytical Scientist Biologics to support our growing protein portfolio.

In this role, you will drive method development and co-validation activities with a strong focus on excipients and chromatographic analytics. You will act as a scientific subject matter expert, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and play an essential role in supporting development, technology transfer, and regulatory submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as commercial SME for size-exclusion HPLC, ion-exchange chromatography, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography methods.
  • Act as instrument owner for multiple HPLC systems and lead troubleshooting activities.
  • Design, execute, and document laboratory experiments.
  • Analyze data and write or review scientific reports.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of method validation strategies.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional teams spanning Analytical Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and related disciplines.
  • Lead and execute scientific investigations and troubleshooting for method challenges during development, tech transfer, and routine use.
  • Support regulatory filings and interactions with health authorities.
  • Coordinate laboratory training initiatives and mentor team members.
  • Work effectively both independently and within a team environment to meet project timelines and departmental goals.

What we expect from you

  • Background in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field (MSc or PhD preferred).
  • Strong experience with HPLC-based chromatography techniques.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills and ownership mindset for analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience with method development, validation, and scientific reporting.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the drive to take initiative.
