Variety fuels my growth - each new challenge brings fresh opportunities
Joël Krediet (34) knew from an early age that logistics was his thing. With a father in the industry and family members running logistics companies, a career in supply chain felt like a natural fit. After finishing his studies, he started in a commercial role at a logistics company but soon realized that sales wasn’t really for him. What truly excited him? Logistics processes. “How can we make operations run more smoothly? How do we make processes more efficient? That’s what fascinates and motivates me,” Joël explains. His journey to TMC started while working as a logistics project manager at a major supermarket chain. There, he met TMC employeneurs who inspired him to make the switch.

Always moving forward
“I thrive on variety. Every new challenge pushes me to learn and grow. At TMC, I get to take on different projects all the time, which keeps things exciting - and that’s exactly what I need at this stage of my career.”
He’s been with TMC for over two years now and has already worked on two projects. The first was at a manufacturing company, where he optimized processes and improved operational efficiency as a logistics specialist. His second project took him in a new direction - leading a team of four as a supply chain manager. “I enjoy analyzing and improving processes, but I also want to develop my leadership skills. That’s a whole different challenge, and this project gave me the perfect opportunity to grow in that area.”
Sharpening leadership skills with the Wicked Skills Masterclass
To strengthen his leadership skills, Joël joined TMC’s Wicked Skills Masterclass, a program designed to help professionals improve their communication, leadership, and teamwork.
“The masterclass makes me more aware of how I communicate and lead conversations. Some things you know instinctively, but you don’t always apply them consciously. This training helps me do that. For example, it’s about understanding how body language, tone, and posture influence a conversation, but also how to build trust, give constructive feedback, and handle resistance without shutting down the discussion.”
He also picks up practical tips that he can apply immediately at work. “Like asking the right questions to get to the heart of a difficult conversation. Or figuring out how to work with different personalities in a team. Everyone has their own way of doing things, and knowing how to adapt makes all the difference. These are skills I’ll take with me as I grow into leadership roles.”

Navigating projects
Joël enjoys stepping into new environments, meeting new people, and taking on new challenges. “I like the variety - it helps me grow. Every project, every team, every challenge is different. That’s what keeps it interesting. I dive in, figure things out, make improvements - then move on to the next challenge with a fresh perspective.”
At the start of a new project, his first few weeks are all about discovery mode. “I talk to as many people as possible. Not just management, but especially the people on the floor. They know where things get stuck. Their insights are invaluable.”
By listening closely and asking the right questions, Joël quickly gets a clear picture of what’s going on. “It’s not just about sharing ideas - it’s about really listening. Before jumping to solutions, I first try to understand how things work and why certain decisions were made. Only then can I add real value and work with the team to make meaningful improvements.”
For him, change only works when people embrace it. “That’s why I don’t just tell people what to do - I show them why change helps. Find solutions together, start small, celebrate successes, and make improvements feel natural. That works way better than pushing things from the top down.”
Finding the right fit
Right now, Joël is between projects. “We don’t call it bench time here; we call it VIP: a ‘flexibly deployable person.’”
His profile is a little different from the typical supply chain role at TMC. While many focus on forecasting, procurement, and supplier management - the more high-tech, data-driven side - Joël specializes in the physical side of supply chain: goods flows, storage, and transport. “That means my next project needs to be the right match, and I appreciate that TMC takes the time to find it.”
What he values about TMC is that he’s never just placed somewhere to fill a gap. “My business manager understands my ambitions and strengths. In my experience, TMC doesn’t just match you with any project- it’s about finding the right one, where you can truly add value, enjoy your work, and do what makes you happy.”
Go with the flow
Joël sees himself staying at TMC for the foreseeable future. “My motto is: go with the flow. I used to be all about having a long-term plan. I thought I had to prove myself - become a director or start my own company. But that didn’t feel right. I realized that chasing a specific outcome wasn’t making me happy. No more ten-year plans for me! Now, I trust the process. As long as I keep learning, growing, and enjoying what I do, like I am now, I know I’m on the right path.”
