Associate Scientist (HBO)

General

The overall goal of an Associate Scientist is to carry out laboratory work aimed at the development of new products, the improvement of existing products, or solving problems in the production of existing products, according to instructions and general guidelines, in a safe and (GLP/GMP) compliant manner and where possible at own discretion and initiative.

Project oriented tasks

• Receives and discusses assignments from / with Project Leader(s). Performs experiments based on general guidelines and instructions, possibly with reference to existing processes and methods.
• Creates a test design in consultation with Project Leader(s) and arranges the supporting work as necessary.
• Is responsible for carrying out the standard provisions and tests. Plans the work for this.
• Indicates deviations, investigates the cause, and makes proposals for improving / changing the experimental design.
• Records the results in the laboratory journal, interprets them and discusses them with the project team.
• Writes Subject Memos, Subject Reports and Regulations / Protocols (if necessary, in English) with low complexity.
• Performs operations under GxP (e.g., assistance with pilot- and consistency batch productions, small scale batches for animal studies, and seed productions).
• Is expected to propose introduction of new methods and techniques.
• Can be involved in the transfer of production processes and quality control tests to Production and QC departments.

• Caries out activities for the daily laboratory operations (including GxP, EHS).
• Has a strong safety mindset.
• Has a strong mindset for continuous improvement.
• Can take care of the introduction, qualification, and maintenance of new equipment.
• Can be responsible for the introduction and instruction of new employees and / or trainees.

Wat we van jou verwachten

Requirements

• Relevant HBO education and/or experience.
• Knowledge and experience of the requirements and rules for setting up and functioning of a laboratory.
• Knowledge of and experience with GxP guidelines.
• Knowledge of and experience with MPS methods.
