The Controls Engineer's role involves verifying the design and functionality of upper-level controls in automated sortation systems. Key responsibilities include identifying and resolving controls I/O issues using PLC and HMI feedback, coupled with basic electrical troubleshooting skills. This position entails working under the mentorship of Senior/Lead Controls Engineers, who oversee the complete delivery of Controls systems for customer projects.
To meet project scope and schedule requirements, this role collaborates with other members of the Controls team to ensure that drawings and software are completed, installed, commissioned, validated, and documented as necessary
Wat we van jou verwachten
Responsabilities:
- Write and implement PLC code, integrate subsystems, and assist in all on-site controls engineering tasks.
- Implement PLC and HMI programs to satisfy current design and customer specifications under the supervision of Sr. Level Controls Engineers
- Review electrical designs and provide accurate as-built drawings for approval.
- Individually or as a team, commission complex automated systems, provide site engineering support, and complete system acceptance testing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable.
- At least 2-4 years of experience within an industrial controls environment which includes:
o PLC programming (Rockwell Software required) o Input and output device design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
o Industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Devicenet, Profinet, etc.)
o Low voltage electrical design and/or troubleshooting.
o Experience with VFDs preferred
Travel:
Generally, this position requires up to 75% travel to various sites. Travels might last from 10 days to 1 month straight depending on the projects needs and schedules. While travelling, the engineer is typically required to work Monday to Friday for at least 40 hours per week.
While travelling to/working at various sites, the engineer will get reimbursed for flights, rental car, fuel, hotel, and will receive a daily per diem to cover the food expenses depending on the location of the project.
