Senior development engineer

About this vacancy

As Sr Pre-development Engineer, you possess food knowledge and cooking process knowledge. You are an engineer. You would be working in pre-development team, along with fellow function development engineers, mechanical engineers, electronic engineers and specific domain experts to realize ideas and bring them further to life. You would define, develop, specify, build, verify and evaluate cooking functions and functional concepts and product prototypes for Healthy Cooking. 

Responsibilities:

• Understand the food and cooking domain, including consumer needs, technology trends, and existing solutions.
• Translate consumer and business requirements into technical insights for function development.
• Independently work within your assigned scope, breaking down functions into technical principles.
• Draft functional concepts and identify key enablers and obstacles.
• Conduct studies to fill knowledge gaps, including reaching out to experts and performing computer simulations.
• Foster a scientific approach from hypothesis to validation.
• Develop measurement methods and test protocols.
• Define transfer functions for developed modules.
• Specify function and system requirements based on insights from experiments and simulations.
• Demonstrate hypothesis testing using statistical engineering tools.
• Evaluate trade-offs between technical, consumer, and business aspects.
• Communicate effectively in English with team members, industrialization teams, and non-technical colleagues.

What we expect from you

Experience and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (MSc preferred) in fields such as food engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, or applied chemistry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in senior R&D roles.
• Demonstrable food knowledge and affinity for food preparation.
• Awareness of food safety regulations.
• Familiarity with pre-development processes and tools (e.g., description statistics, morphological charts, DOE, TRIZ, FMEA).
• Experience with simulation packages (e.g., FEM).
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
