About this vacancy

As a Scientific Software Engineer, you design, build, and optimize software that supports or drives scientific processes. You collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and data scientists on innovative solutions that make knowledge directly applicable. Examples include: - Developing simulation and modeling tools for physics, chemistry, or materials science. - Automating experiments and test setups through embedded software or industrial interfaces. - Visualizing complex datasets and creating user-friendly dashboards. - Optimizing algorithms for numerical calculations, image processing, or machine learning.

What we expect from you

You have a track record of 3 to 8 years of successful scientific software projects at high-tech and research organizations in the Randstad.
Proven experience with at least two programming languages, such as C++, Fortran, C, Python, or MATLAB.
A completed Master's degree or PhD in a STEM/technical field (e.g., physics, mathematics, computer science, or mechanical engineering).
Thorough knowledge of design and development principles such as OOP, TDD, BDD, SOLID.
Experience with professional development processes (Scrum, Agile, SAFe).
Excellent proficiency in the Dutch language.
Strong analytical skills and a structured, accurate working style.
