About this vacancy

Key Accountabilities:

  • Document and Execute Test & Commissioning (T&C) Activities:
  • Perform signaling system test activities including:
      • Installation, Circuit Breakdown, and Site Acceptance tests
      • Operational and system integration tests for Interlocking and Wayside locations
    • Dynamic and Static integration tests as required by project requirements
    • Conduct T&C activities in the field, managing materials, tools, test fixtures, documentation, access, and logistics.
    • Maintain location-specific test plans, procedures, and data sheets to reflect the "as installed or as tested" condition.
    • Apply T&C processes to ensure tests comply with regulatory standards, project requirements, and industry best practices.
    • Execute T&C plans such as daily testing schedules, 3-week look-ahead testing schedules, and cutover plans.
    • Perform tests on "live" circuits and on new or existing equipment.
    • Ensure Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in the field with guidance from the EHS representative.
    • Support multiple projects on railway signaling systems under the direction of the T&C Manager.
    • Proactively manage interfaces with customers, engineers, consultants, and sub-contractors.
    • Install and adjust various signaling equipment (e.g., switch machines, trip stops, track circuits, code systems, Carborne interfaces).
    • Complete test documentation, data sheets, discrepancy reports, and other reports.
    • Update the status of testing activities and estimate time to complete by location.
    • Support the development and delivery of cutover and phasing plans.
    • Troubleshoot and drive corrective actions to eliminate defects/discrepancies.
    • Deliver high-quality data for commissioning field test reports.
    • Monitor and periodically audit test tools to ensure they are in perfect working order and calibrated.
    • Deliver high performance in terms of Quality, Costs, and Delivery, in compliance with KB Signaling policies, local standards, and regulations (especially EHS and Railway Safety).

What we expect from you

Mandatory:

  • Experience with test equipment including VOMs, DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and frequency counters.
  • Experience with technical designs and documents.
  • Training or experience in electronics or electrical testing or maintenance.

Desirable:

  • Test & Commissioning or maintenance experience with:
    • Audio frequency track circuits
    • iVPI, VPI, MicroLok, or ElectroLogIXS microprocessor train control systems
    • Legacy vital relay train control systems
    • Highway crossing warning systems
  • Experience in testing and commissioning activities for new signal systems or upgrades to existing signal systems, or maintenance of signal systems and equipment, including the job responsibilities described above.

Education:

Mandatory:

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience or military training/experience with Electronics or Electrical systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (read, written, spoken).

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Formal railroad or transit system signal or train control training.
  • Training or knowledge of FRA Title 49 Rule and Regulations Governing Railroad Signal and Train Control Systems Parts 234 and 236.
